GLA:D Hip or Knee Arthritis Program

GLA:D®, or Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark, is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.

Osteoarthritis is the most common lifestyle disease in people 65 years of age and older, but it can also affect individuals as young as 30. This six-week education and exercise program reflects the latest evidence in osteoarthritis research and includes feedback from people with osteoarthritis and trainers on what works in the real world to help manage osteoarthritis symptoms.

When

Call us on 132 246 for GLA:D times at either Parkdale or Bentleigh East.

Exercise groups are run by a Physiotherapist and Allied Health Assistant. These hourly sessions focus on improving muscle control around the joint leading to a reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life.

The program includes sessions that teach participants about Osteoarthritis, how the GLA:D exercises improve joint stability and how to retain this improved joint stability outside of the program.

Cost

$10 per session or $5 per session for Health Care Card and Pension Card holders.

Some participants may be eligible for concessions. Ask more about fees at the time of booking.

Eligibility

Participants are referred by their treating physiotherapist; eligibility generally covers all individuals who experience any hip and/or knee osteoarthritis symptoms, regardless of severity. Participants will need to attend a short pre-group assessment session prior to the first exercise group.
